UpdatingVTLsoftware
Whensoft warepatchesbecomeavailable,theyarepostedontheonlineSun
StorageTekCustomerResourceCenterwithaccompanying,explanatorytext
(“readme”)files.DownloadthepatchfilestoatemporarydirectoryontheVTL
consolehost,andinstallthemusingtheprocessbelow.
Ingeneral,youshouldconsultyourSun supportrepresentative
beforedownloading
andapplyingpatches.NeverapplypatchesfromsourcesotherthanSun.

Eachpatchfilehasanameoftheform update-vtxxxxxxsolarisnn,where
xxxxxxrepresentsthe patchbuildnumberandnn representstheapplicableversion
ofthe Solarisoperatingsystem.Thecorrespond ingtext(“readme”)fileshavethethe
samename,plusthesuffix.txt.
AllpatchesareappliedusingtheVTL
consolesoftware,asfollows.
1. Understandth ebehaviorofeachpatchbeforeproceeding:readtheaccompanying
textfile(the“readme”).
SomeVTLpatchesrequireaplatformreboot,whileothersmerelystopandrestart
theserversoftware.
2. Makesurethatnocriticalprocessesarerunningbeforeyouproceed.
